Parish News for 19/20 July 2025 – 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time

🙏 Shortened Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your Son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your kingdom.
May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven. May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever. Amen.

⚓ Sea Sunday – Seafarers’ Sunday

Join us as we pray and show gratitude for men and women who work aboard seagoing ships, often under dangerous and lonely conditions, away from their families for months at a time, and lacking access to the internet, healthcare, or mental health support.
There are over 1.89 million seafarers globally who help transport 90% of the world’s goods, making them essential yet often invisible workers.
By observing Sea Sunday, we stand in solidarity with seafarers and their families.

✝️ Corpus Christi: “Behold the Body of Christ”

But do we really wish to encounter the whole of Jesus! Imagine if Jesus personally asks to see you; to come and visit him. How would the thought of such an invite as adoration stir in you? We usually struggle to keep daily contact with Jesus. What if you listen deeply and get a direct invitation from Jesus to see him face-to-face!

We know that Jesus is always truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus offering to talk to you, to enter into your heart, and to come close as you sit before him, is a gift—a great grace offered to you in this parish. Imagine him saying, “You came to see me! My attention!” (Mon–Thurs, 2–6pm).

One half-hour, once each month or week, or more, just sitting with Jesus, will transform you. In quiet contemplation Jesus will whisper to you of his tender mercy and forgiveness. Such “touches” of the Lord will change your entire attitude, any negativity, any weight you carry as lonely burdens of life. His love will renew you.

Praying like this can start a whole new spiritual journey for you. Instead of you running around doing everything as if all depends on you, freely absorb the new life from Jesus. Determine what times of contemplation will do for you.

Before the Blessed Sacrament, simply yearn for the Lord’s presence. Let yourself be attracted bit by bit into intimate relationship with Him. He will break through. You will sense He is really there. His presence will grow in you. He’ll touch you, and fill you with His very Self. When He “finds” you, you will discover your “true self”. You will be saturated with a sense of mercy and freedom. You will be softened and healed. He will transform you, reset your hurts, and replace thought patterns. If you remain in burdens, don’t feel discouraged—He’s always there, just for you.

Think about this invitation from the Lord, a “call” into intimacy and friendship with Him. Periods of adoration and friendship with Jesus will bring spiritual riches. Maybe a roster for His presence will have a big impact on those in real need—and will greatly bless the whole parish. We have a place set aside for Adoration and Benediction (please contact the parish if you commit yourself to spending time with Jesus).
