Parish News for 3/4 August 2025 – 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time

🗳️ PPC Elections / Awareness – Overview

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL (PPC) ELECTIONS 2025
Towards White Smoke in Our Parishes

From August to October this year, we will be electing a new PPC. The PPC is a forum of parish representatives that collaborates with the parish priest in the mission of the parish, which is the mission of the Church.
The election process includes a few steps:

  1. Awareness (August)
  2. Nominations (September)
  3. Voting (27/28 September)
  4. Counting votes and setting up the new PPC (October)

Just as with the election of Pope Leo XIV, this process invites the Holy Spirit to guide us so that we may enjoy the fruits of a discerning and spiritual process—“towards white smoke in our parishes.”

🛡️ Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) Feedback

We have received feedback from Mr. Michael Baker, the child safeguarding officer for the Archdiocese of Cape Town, regarding the CSP audit. Once again, he has commended our parish for achieving 98% in the audit:

“With a score of 98%, once again Immaculate Conception’s implementation of the CSP is exemplary. Thank you for maintaining your appreciation of this ministry. Your result shows me what is possible throughout the Archdiocese.”

A huge thanks to Gerard, who is both PPC chairperson and CSP Officer for our parish, for his diligent work in keeping our parish compliant, and to all those in ministry who cooperate to keep our children safe.
We encourage everyone—parents, guardians, and all who minister and attend our parish—to work together to ensure our parish and its surrounds are safe spaces for our children.

🧶 Baby Beanie Project

The CWL thanks all knitters, crocheters, wool sponsors, friends, family, and parishioners for the outstanding effort:

  • 15 Small Jerseys
  • 10 Vests

Cheshire Home & Clothing Guild received the blankets, scarves, and bigger beanies.

🗳️ PPC Elections

The elections for a new Parish Pastoral Council are coming up in October. The process is guided by the Archdiocese and the Parish Alive program. Information about the process will be shared weekly and is available on the archdiocesan and parish websites.
We encourage you to think carefully about whom you wish to nominate to best serve you in making our parish vision a reality.
