Parish News – 27/28 December 2025 – Feast of the Holy Family

👋 Farewell to Fr Adrian

On 12 December 2025, we welcomed Fr Adrian Curran OFM Cap to South Africa, to Cape Town, and to our parish. Fr Adrian left Ireland to come and minister here in our country. Having visited South Africa many times before, it was his wish to one day come and work here.

As is the nature of our Capuchin Franciscan life, we are missionaries and mendicants — living, working, and ministering in a particular place for a particular time. Fr Adrian’s time in our parish has been rather short, and he will be leaving us for Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) on 7 January 2026.

We thank Fr Adrian sincerely for his ministry among us and wish him a safe journey and God’s richest blessings during his time in the Eastern Cape.

Ad multos annos!

🙏 A New Year’s Prayer

Our lives are made of days and nights, of seasons and years, for we are part of a universe of suns and moons and planets. We mark ends and we make beginnings and, in all, we praise God for the grace and mercy that fill our days.

Remember us, O God; from age to age be our comforter. You have given us the wonder of time, blessings in days and nights, seasons and years. Bless your children at the turning of the year and fill the months ahead with the bright hope that is ours in the coming of Christ.

You are our God, living and reigning, forever and ever. Amen.

May your 2026 be filled with blessings, happiness, and good health.

📜 Unclaimed Certificates

To those who have made their First Holy Communion or were Confirmed over the past number of years and have not yet collected their certificates and/or videos:

Please collect these from the parish office from the end of January 2026.
These certificates are important records of your faith journey and will be required for marriage preparation in the future.

🗓️ Meetings at the Parish

As we move into 2026, all parish groups and ministries are asked to submit their proposed meeting dates to the parish office.

This helps:

  • prevent double bookings,
  • coordinate priests’ diaries, and
  • ensure proper security on parish property.

📦 Monthly Food Parcels

The parish extends heartfelt thanks to all individuals and families who faithfully support the Food Parcel Appeal run by the Society of St Francis for the Poor.

Your generous contributions provide food parcels for 26 families every month.
As you have given throughout the year, may God bless you and your family with every good gift.

📢 Parish Notices

  • The Parish Office is closed and will re-open mid-January.
