CAPE TOWN HAS A NEW ARCHBISHOP!!

“After more than a year of Cape Town being sede vacante, today (09th January 2026) at noon in Rome it was announced that His Holiness Pope Leo XIV has appointed Most Reverend Sithembela Sipuka as Archbishop of Cape Town. We welcome the Archbishop-elect and congratulate him on his appointment. Up to the time of his appointment, he has been Bishop of the Diocese of Mthatha, and is the immediate past president of the Southern African Bishop’s Conference (SACBC). He is currently the President of the SACBC.

More details about the events of the installation of Archbishop-elect Sipuka, and his subsequent taking possession of his See will be given in due course.”

Letter given by Bishop Sylvester David: 09th January 2026 – Cape Town

📜 Unclaimed Certificates

To those who have made their First Holy Communion or were Confirmed over the past number of years and who have not yet collected their certificates and/or videos:

Please collect these from the parish office from the end of January 2026.
These certificates are important records of your faith journey and will be required for marriage preparation in the future.

🗓️ Meetings at the Parish

As we move into 2026, all parish groups and ministries are asked to submit their proposed meeting dates to the parish office.

This helps to:

  • prevent double bookings,
  • coordinate priests’ diaries, and
  • ensure proper security on parish property.

✍️ Holy Graffiti

It is the time of the year when we are allowed to write on our walls.

Traditionally, on or around the Feast of the Epiphany, chalk is blessed in church and taken home. While praying together at the entrance of our homes, we write the following above the door:

20 + C + M + B + 26

This prayer asks for God’s blessing on our comings and goings and invites the Three Wise Men to visit our homes, bringing God’s blessings.

Please take a piece of blessed chalk and a pamphlet home with you after Mass.
